Reframing the Narrative: TANTV 2022 Year in Review

2022 was a year of triumph and success for TANTV Studios. We are proud to have achieved so much in such a short amount of time. It was a year of growth and development for us, both in terms of content and reach.  We founded our platform with the mission of challenging and reframing the narrative of stories of African and multicultural black diaspora communities by providing an inclusive platform to tell and share their stories, while also providing them with access to resources, opportunities and support to grow our community.

We got ourselves a co-founder and COO. Abolaj Omitogun, collaborated with major local diaspora businesses and covered historic events, doubled our original content publishing effort on TANTVstudios.com and achieved a total reach of 145k users across our digital assets. Our founder was selected for the DC Art and Humanities Awards, and featured on major news outlets such as Technica.ly DC, Voice of America and more. We were also funded by organizations such as BGE, DC Art Commission and more.

We also experienced tremendous reach and engagement, with our platform being read in 147 countries with the highest readership being in the U.S. Top 3 countries outside the U.S were the UK, Nigeria and Canada. Our top cities in the US being Bethesda, Baltimore (Maryland),  New York, Santa Clara, Los Angeles (Ca), District of Columbia and Atlanta (GA). Our audience was made up mostly of young, vibrant people, with 39.9% of them falling within the age range 25-34, 31.2% between 35-44 and 28.9% between age 18-24.

The platform also reached readers in 147 countries, Our content was well-received with our most popular articles being Haitian-born Chef Alain Lemaire schooling Legendary rap Artist Ludacris, American University's Abolaji Omitogun who raised $100K towards his MBA and subsequently graduating, Gambian-American Adam Sallah redefining African fashion for professional women, and Afrobeats Super Star “Simi” performing at the grand opening of Pan-African restaurant Èkó House in Maryland.

All in all, we are proud of our accomplishments in 2022 and look forward to continuing our mission of providing an inclusive platform to tell and share stories of African and multicultural black diaspora communities.
