Atlanta Gears Up for President’s Advisory Council Meeting on African Diaspora Engagement

President Biden’s Council on African Diaspora Engagement in the United States (PAC-ADE), will convene at Spelman College in Atlanta, GA, on Monday, March 18, to discuss issues key topics on improving African in Diaspora programs. 

According a to press release from the US Department of State, “The PAC-ADE will discuss 2024 priorities and review proposed recommendations, including programs to expand cultural and education exchange between Africa and the United States, and opportunities to increase participation of members of the African diaspora in the United States related to trade, investment, economic growth, and development programs relating to Africa.”

The meeting will also feature visits to notable institutions in Atlanta. PAC-ADE members are scheduled to receive a briefing at the Carter Center on election monitoring and democracy trends across Africa. 

Additionally, they will engage in a roundtable discussion with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to explore avenues for bolstering trade between the U.S. and Africa, aligning with the Biden-Harris Administration’s priorities.

The PAC-ADE, established by President Biden and Secretary Blinken in September 2023, serves as a platform to provide counsel on strengthening ties between African communities and the African diaspora. Its overarching mission includes advising the administration on cultural, social, political, and economic cooperation between the two regions.

All interested parties, including Atlanta-based business owners and accredited members of the press, are encouraged to participate in the roundtable discussion either in-person or virtually.
